TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. What started as a four-day conference in California over 30 years ago has evolved into a global movement that fuels curiosity, innovation, and impactful conversations.

At its core, TED is known for its two annual TED Conferences, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers take the stage to share their ideas in 18 minutes or less. These talks span diverse topics, from science and technology to business, education, and the arts. Many of these talks are then made available for free on TED.com, reaching millions worldwide.

TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan, and Daniel Kahneman, among many other influential voices shaping the world today.

In the spirit of Ideas Worth Spreading, TEDx is a grassroots initiative designed to bring communities together through TED-like experiences. These local, self-organized events feature a blend of TED Talk videos and live speakers, sparking deep discussions, connections, and idea-sharing.

At a TEDx event, participants experience the magic of TED while engaging with local voices, innovators, and changemakers. The goal? To inspire, challenge, and empower communities through storytelling and transformative conversations.

While TED provides general guidance, each TEDx event is independently organized, allowing hosts to curate experiences tailored to their audience. However, all TEDx events follow TED’s core principles and guidelines to maintain the integrity and quality of the experience.

TEDx has expanded globally, with thousands of events held in over 170 countries, bridging cultures, industries, and generations through ideas that drive progress.
